With the release of Mac OS Sequoia 15.0 Apple have included in Safari 18.0 the ability to hide distracting items from webpages and it's called Distraction Control (and is also available for iPhone and iPad with iOS 18).
Applying Distraction Control to a website with pop-ups and distracting content turns an overwhelming experience into a much more pleasant and calming one.
Here's a before and after example from The Verge (a better than normal website too)…
And the best part, Safari will remember which elements you've hidden too. So the next time you visit the same website, it will be immediately less distracting. Plus it's shared across your Safari profile from whichever device you access Safari from.
As a demonstration, Distraction Control is a quick way to show just how overwhelming we've made the web. Maybe it's about time for some peace in our web browsing experience?
